What not to pack away when moving home

Moving home is a stressful time, especially if you’re moving on short notice. However, in the flurry of packing, you will want to take care to keep essentials close to hand because unpacking always takes 10 times as long as you were planning on. Whether you pack all of this into one box and move it yourself or put it right on top so it comes out of the truck first is up to you, but it’s best to know where these things are to make your move easier. Eating utensils There is nothing worse than arriving at your new home and realizing you can’t eat unless you go out or dig through a couple dozen boxes to find where your kitchen stuff is. Also, make sure your furry and feathered friends’ bowls and food are right on top too! Medication This one might seem obvious, but if you’re in a time crunch it can easily be overlooked. Ensuring you know where your medication is can make a huge difference in making unpacking less stressful. (And again, don’t forget your pets’ medications either!) Shower supplies Even if you get a moving company to do the hard work for you, moving is still hard, stressful work and once it is all done, you will likely want to relax with a hot shower – regardless of whether or not you’ve unpacked your bathroom completely. Toilet paper This one should be self-explanatory. Just grab a roll per bathroom and you’ll be good to go. Important Documents If you’re moving on short notice, especially within the same city, chances are you won’t need something like a passport right on top, but if you know your driving license is about to expire or you have to re-register your children for school, then birth certificates and other proof of identity can be crucial to making your move smooth. Of course, you’ll want to tailor this list to meet your family’s or office’s needs. If you’re using a Dallas moving service, it can make the whole process easier, however it’s always best to plan ahead as much as you can to minimize the stress.
